Auction for the Trust - Place Your Bids Now!
Help raise funds for the Trust and bag yourself one, or two, of these wonderful items.
The Auction will take place at Noble's Park Pavilion, from 7.30pm on Friday 1st October 2010. The Auctioneer will be Murray Keefe, and all proceeds will go to the Manx Wildlife Trust (charity no. 225 IOM).
There are 33 lots in total and commission bids can be taken any time prior to the auction if you cannot attend, contact us for details.
Tickets cost £10 per person, including supper and a glass of wine (additional drinks available on the evening for a donation), entertainment and entry into a prize draw.
Tables for groups of 4 - 8 people are bookable – and make a fun night out - please contact us to discuss.
Tickets must be purchased prior to the event and are available from the Manx Wildlife Shop or Office at The Courtyard, Tynwald Mills, St. Johns (tel: 01624 801985).

Auction Catalogue - All Proceeds in Aid of Manx Wildlife Trust
Lot 1.
A day for 2-4 people spent whale and dolphin surveying with John Galpin aboard his wonderful boat ‘Grampus’. This is weather dependent. Please note that everyone wishing to go on this trip must be over 16 years of age.
Lot 2.
Wildlife sketch by well known celebrity Kim Wilde, pop singer turned gardener. This amusing sketch arrived too late to be auctioned as part of our celebrity art auction ‘Wildlife in Wellies’.
Lot 3.
Garden Design Drawing
The lot comprises a unique garden design drawing to be produced by a Chartered Landscape Architect. This includes an initial visit to the garden to examine the site and discuss the design requirements and production, based on survey plan to be provided, of a black and white design drawing (2 paper copies to be provided at up to A1 size) in a suitable scale (1:50 – 1:200 depending on size of site) showing an outline design for the garden. Lot 4.
A beautiful Loaghtan fleece that will look fabulous by a bed or in front of a roaring fire. Loaghtans are hardy sheep that have a thick, stunning earthy-brown fleece.
Lot 5.
A tea set in fine china. Late Victorian with very delicate pattern. This lot comes with a fine lace tablecloth.
Lot 6.
Used as the original cover of the calendar ‘Mannin Art 2010’, a stunning watercolour by the manx artist Dennis Grundy, entitled ‘Peel Harbour’.
Lot 7.
A collection of Wild Flowers from Andree Dubbeldam.
A young native silver birch that will grow rapidly into a handsome medium sized tree with a tray of 15 native woodland wildflowers including primrose, wood anemone, bluebell, wild strawberry and red campion.
Lot 8.
A watercolour painting by local artist Jean Jackson.
A delightful picture of a wren amongst ivy leaves.
Lot 9.
Child’s pedal car. Donated by Buchanan of Douglas, a model pedal car, suitable for a toddler, based on a BMW Z4.
Lot 10.
A double bed size quilt by Charlotte Shafto.
Made from 100% cotton fabric with a cotton wadding filling. It was sewn by machine and is a Sampler Quilt made to teach different techniques each week in a series of lessons.
Lot 11.
A day at Manx Radio, for up to four people spent with the DJs including: The chance to join DJ Chris Williams in the studio for the Manx Radio Breakfast Show. Join Chris for breakfast. Tour the Manx Radio Newsroom and see how a news bulletin is created. Find out how the Radio Station works and enjoy ‘twiddling the knobs’!
Lot 12.
A box of Carlton Ware China, assorted sizes and patterns.
Lot 13.
A large wind chime, made of copper and wood, that would look and sound wonderful in any garden.
Lot 14.
A celebrity wildlife sketch by local artist Marg Hewson. This was originally painted for our Wellies for Wildlife auction. Her work is highly collectable.
Lot 15.
A one hour pleasure flight for up to three people around the Island in a private plane owned and flown by Mr. Chris Cope. A unique chance to enjoy the wonderfully diverse landscape of the Isle of Man from the air.
Lot 16.
An original painting by the renowned wildlife artist Dr. Jeremy Paul. His inspiring paintings of local wildlife and more exotic animals from Africa and Antartica have recently been on Exhibition in Douglas, have been used on many Isle of Man stamps and are highly collectable. www.jeremypaulwildlifeartist.co.uk

Treat the children to a pond dipping or rock pooling birthday party with our Education Officer Kath Smith. She will help you and your children find and experience the wonders to be found in our rivers or shore line. A truly memorable opportunity.
Lot 18.
A trio of wooden bowls made speciallyfor us by wood turner Godfrey Baillie-Searle.
Lot 19.
A Wildlife Heritage Tour, for 2-6 people with Wildlife Film maker Steve Wright. Transport provided, collection from anywhere on the Island. The tour duration will be five hours, exploring several wildlife and heritage locations. The tour can be tailored to suit the preferences of the group. www.iomtours.co.uk
Lot 20.
An antique cut glass biscuit barrel, plus a decorative rose cut glass vase.
Lot 22.
A wildlife inspired sketch by the well known comedy actor and presenter Paddy McGuinness (Phoenix Nights, Take Me Out).
Lot 23.
A late Victorian Mantel Clock. This is in oak with a lovely mellow chime. Needing some attention to the movement.
Lot 24.
A day of tuition in Wood Turning with Godfrey Baillie-Searle. Godfrey makes wonderful bowls and candlesticks for the Trust and has kindly agreed to teach the art of wood turning.
Lot 25.
A large watercolour painting of the northern end of Silverdale by local artist Harry Hulme.
Lot 26.
A memorable day or weekend on the Calf of Man for one or two people. You can be a ‘warden for the day’, shadowing and helping estate warden Gavin Devaney and bird warden Sarah Harris. This lot includes transport across to the Calf and accommodation in the bird observatory overnight if required.
Lot 27.
A beautiful three piece Sheffield Electroplated Silver Fish Serving Set, comprising a fork, spoon and fish slice. By Charles James Allen & Sidney Darwin of Arundel St. Sheffield, this set dates between 1892 - 1896.
Lot 28.
A beautiful necklace, 9ct gold, in presentation case. Ideal for an evening out on the town!
Lot 29.

Lot 30.
A beautiful quilted wall hanging of Fuchsias by Maria Preece. Made in creative machine embroidery, using a stained glass technique.
Lot 31.
A second quilted wall hanging by Maria Preece, of two Dragonflies, using the same intricate technique.
Lot 32.
A large wooden sculpture by renowned local sculptor Gavin Carter. This piece is one of a series, about 6 feet tall, organic in shape, with an extremely attractive burnt wood effect. Gavin’s work can be found all round the island including in the courtyard of Tynwald Mills.
Lot 33.
A large poppy shaped stoneware bowl in a bluey green glaze by talented potter, Faye Christian. She has just started creating ceramics
on the island and produces stunning hand made glazed pieces, tableware and studio ceramics, both large and small, in organic shapes. www.fayechristian.com
Thanks to the generosity of members and friends of the Trust there may be more lots on the night so an addendum will be available on the evening of the auction.
