Volunteering - use your skills to support the Trust
The Manx Wildlife Trust relies on a dedicated group of volunteers who help out in many varied ways throughout the year - and more are always welcome! We have a large range of tasks, so whatever your experience and skills, there’s bound to be something for you - and it’s a great way to support the Trust!

The Wildlife Shop at Tynwald Mills is open seven days a week and sells a large range of new goods, from greetings cards to books and gifts. A team of volunteers run the shop, and extra help on a regular or occasional basis would be very useful.
The Trust has two Visitor Centres at the Ayres and Scarlett which are open five afternoons a week during the summer months and are staffed by volunteer wardens. Why not join the wardens' rota, meet the public, look after sales and enjoy two of the most lovely spots on the island for a few afternoons a year.
If you are feeling energetic and hanker for the great outdoors then join the Mid-week Muckers, carrying out conservation tasks on the Trust's reserves every Tuesday and Thursday mornings. There is always plenty to do including fencing, boardwalk- construction, path maintenance and woodland management. Find out more here. Complete beginners are welcome as guidance is always provided but there are plenty of challenging jobs for those who already have some conservation skills. For more information about the work involved contact the Trust’s Reserves Officer Tricia Sayle: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
The Wildflowers of Mann Project has secured a brand new site in St Johns for a wildflower nursery. Work is already underway on the site, and there’ll be so much more to do in the spring. So, if you can spare a few hours and would like to get involved in the practical aspects of looking after the nursery, helping with potting up plants etc., please contact Project Manager, Andree Dubbeldam: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
If you live near one of our nature reserves and would like to take on the responsibility of regularly visiting the site and checking that all is well and contacting the Trust when necessary, then become a reserve guardian and get to know one of the reserves season by season.
For those interested in studying the wildlife of our nature reserves and other parts of the Island in more detail. Join our regular botanical surveys of meadowland, woodland and verges; monitor moths and butterflies; help with census of bird populations. Beginners are welcome and quickly learn on the job! However, experience is an advantage.
Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of the Wildlife Trusts. If you wish to help with the Wildlife Watch Group, you can become a volunteer leader.
We often need volunteers to help out in our office, especially when we have large mailouts. Absolutely no previous experience necessary! Suitable for friends to work together and flexible hours can be arranged to suit your schedule.
The Trust is involved in a wide range of activities and a diversity of skills are called for to achieve our objectives. Perhaps you have the expertise we need - graphic art, design, photography, computer skills, first aid, carpentry, agriculture, journalism, fund-raising, organising social and special events - the list goes on! |
