Education - indoor classroom based activities and organised outdoor events
The Manx Wildlife Trust has a strong commitment to education. Every year, over two thousand children get closer to nature and through this first-hand experience gain a greater understanding and enjoyment of the natural world and our place within it. And the 2007/08 school year has been the busiest yet for the Trust’s Education Officer, Kath Smith. Activities can be based in the classroom, the school grounds or out on a nature reserve, on the beach or in a glen and be tailor-made to meet your requirements.
Typical outdoor activities include, but are not limited to:
• Pond/River dipping • Rockpooling
• Mini-beast hunts
Indoor Presentations and interactive wildlife games:
• Coasts • Interdependence and Adaptation • Manx Wildlife • Food Chains
All of our education activities have links to the National Curriculum and have been evaluated for safety. Sessions are full of fun and as well as being fantastic learning experiences. “Thank you for such a wonderful trip. I learnt a lot about rockpool creatures” “I really liked the talk on Interdependence and Adaptation, I really learnt a lot”
“My favourite part was in the wildflower garden holding froghoppers, they felt as as they weren’t even there”
